Recent Book Purchase...

I was watching some show the other day and they had the author of this book talking about food choices for kids. I was intrigued because we have been trying to find healthier (but still edible) snacks for our kids. So, I caved and bought it...I was pleasantly surprised! It has some great tips and some of the things he recommends vs. other things are pretty surprising. It has some great ideas for school lunches and I really feel like this was a good purchase. I deem this "blogworthy"...

Bishop and Corinne Grieving the Loss of the Chapel...

I saw this on Tibi's blog and it just cracked me up! Bishop and Corinne - you get the "Finding Joy in the Journey Award" for having a great time despite the church's charred remains behind you... ;)

Dadburnit, Giving Everything they Had, and An Example of True Sacrifice...

The Logandale Chapel burned down yesterday and instead of focusing on the great loss...I've decided to focus on the great sacrifice of the Saints who built this great building. They gave everything they had and it was a great meeting place for many years. (No, I don't think I am using the word "great" too much here...) I am so grateful for their examples. I've decided to post some quotes from Kevin's Grandpa Jensen's Life History regarding the building of the Logandale Chapel... (Thanks for the pics Aus, these are the best I've seen...)

"As I remember at that time, it was a 30-70 program. The church paid 30% of the cost and we had to come up with 70% of the cost. Everyone had to donate labor. I gave one day a week, from my farm where I was dairying, then I hired a man, Bert Lyman, and I paid him one day's wages a week to go work on the chapel. So I was donating two days to work on the chapel, towards its completion. Everyone in the ward donated labor and money. I remember Grant Bowler used to get us together, and tell us that now we need another hundred dollars from every family to continue. (In today's money that would be around $800 - $1,000.00) So, somehow, I don't know how we did it, we came up with a hundred dollars. This happened week after week, month after month; more money was needed and somehow we all came up with the money. I remember the last Sunday we had in the school house. The chapel was not quite completed. We hadn't laid the floor in the recreation hall and we were laying this hardwood floor in the recreation hall at the time. Finally, Tom Leavitt said, dadburnit, let's meet in the new chapel, I'll lay the floor all night if necessary, but let's meet in the new chapel - and that's literally what we did. We laid floor way into the night, so we could get the floor finished. Anyway, the floor got laid down. On Christmas Eve we had Mrs. Miller tell a story and give all the kids a sack of goodies. We had nothing but peanuts, and an orange or apple in the sack. We were so poor we had a hard time giving each child a sack of candy. This was about the situation for all of us, we had given everything we had."...Glenn Jensen

Shelbi Deserves the "Best Sister Award"!

Seriously...Shelbi is the best sister in the world! She loves her little brothers and does so much for them. (And for me!) I don't know what we would do without her! If there were an award for being the "Best Sister" she would win it hands down. (But if by chance some of you didn't vote for her and she didn't win, I would get some kind of a wooden/metal something and spray paint it gold and stick it up in her room anyway!) ;)

Jennifer Whipple is our family photographer and she took these fabulous pictures of my kids! (Thanks JOW!!!) If anyone is interested in having her take YOUR family pics, let me know and I can hook you up with her number... Did I mention she is fabulous?

Make a font with your own handwriting!

I found the cutest site that makes a font out of your handwriting! I think I will have Shelbi make one... :) Wouldn't that be a fun thing to have?

Frankie say...RELAX!

I love this picture of Lucas! It's from swimming lessons last year and when I came across it I just HAD to post it. He totally would lay back like this and hang out when he was done swimming his little "lap". Isn't this such a relaxing picture? Lucas is such a good guy...what would we do without our Luke-Man?
